There are almost no cons, the people there are more trustworthy than people at dealers. Any concerns are lies spread to scare people to buy from major corporations through dealerships.

Number one biggest con from buying at an Auction is you can’t thoroughly inspect the vehicle. You have a quick 1-2 minute look and you have to take a big risk of buying and bidding or walking away.

The biggest issue with public auto auctions is the quality of cars they sell is very low. They sell real crap, but they do sell it cheap.
You see a public auto auction is the last stop on a used cars long journey. If the dealer can’t sell it on their retail lot they take it to the auction, If the car doesn’t sell at a closed dealer only auction they ship it off to the public auction as the final attempt to get rid of the car.
Most cars that end up at the public auto auction are in need of at least one major repair. That’s why nobody would put it on their retail lot and no other dealer was interested in buying it.
The one and only pro – The cars are cheap.
Private owners offer the best option for a good used car. Of course you have to be a smart enough consumer to know how to avoid the scammers, curbstoners and crooks. But if you find a neighbor, friend, coworker or relative who is just looking to get rid of a car they no longer need (or the dealer offered them an insulting trade in value) then you’ve found a good car. A car that should have plenty of recorded maintenance records and a person who isn’t out to rip you off lie to you or cheat you out of money. They just want to get rid of a car they can’t use anymore.
